* Chicken Wings must be pounded in order to break up the bone in small enough chunks for the pup to eat. From 8 - 12 weeks the wing should be pounded so that there is no piece of bone larger than a quarter inch. Put the chicken wing in a plastic bag and place on a cutting board and then use either a hammer or a mallet to pound the bone down. After 12 weeks, pound the bone. You can remove the large knuckle bone when pounding for small pups. Do not remove it after 12 weeks because the pup needs the extra bone in their diet. After 12 weeks, pound the wing less and less. If the pup just swallows it right down, pound the wings less. If the pup had difficulty eating the wing, pound more. By about 4 1/2 to 5 months the puppy will be able to eat the wing whole. By 5 months the pup can begin eating other meaty bones which you will not need to pound.
